On Friday 8th November 2013, Futura held their first Annual Charity Day at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield. This event was to raise deserving funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and to celebrate Futura’s 25th anniversary.
The day started bright and early at with a typical golfer’s breakfast and the promise of sunshine. With the anticipation of the competition, the shot gun start on the famous Brabazon course signalled that the event had well and truly begun. After the British weather challenged our competitors to power through the pouring rain, the prospect of a warm hearty dinner appealed even more! Our 3 course evening meal was accompanied with entertainment including a raffle and auction, where most of the funds for our chosen charity were raised. Thanks to the generosity of some of our clients, associates, employees and friends, and even though the weather was not as we would have hoped, the whole day exceeded expectations and we managed to raise an amazing £10,000 for the worthy cause, Birmingham Children’s Hospital. We had notable prize donations including Superbikes weekend tickets and laps in the safety car (Vince Fuller), Morgan goodie bag, tour of the Morgan factory and a day’s hire of a Morgan (Jon Wells) and we extended extra gratitude to Fred Harrison and Colin Hart for their kind donations as well. Mr Aaron Aughey set the bar high, with the highest bid for any item at £800.00 for England vs Wales 6 Nations tickets. Aaron’s competitive nature shone in the light of charity, so thank you Aaron.
As the day was such a great success, we just had to host another golf day for our annual charity event with the hope to raise even more funds, catch up with close acquaintances and welcome new faces!
